G2S is excited to have made the top stories of 2015, and we hope to have an even better 2016!
"Gateway to Success works toward opening
Work continued in 2015 to create a new charter school for area students who are at risk of failing in a traditional school setting.
Gateway to Success (G2S) was created during the year and by the year’s end work was continuing to prepare its future home in Scottville for students to begin the 2016-17 school year in the fall.
It will be a charter school designed for those who are at risk of failing in the traditional school setting. It is being created with a plan for a lot of hands-on work, where students learn by doing, said Jamie Bandstra, superintendent.
The school’s building at 526 N. Scottville Road had once been a grocery store and it is now being fitted for classrooms.
The new G2S school will replace the former Journey Junior/Senior High School that had been located west of Scottville on U.S. 10.
Students from Journey have been taken this year by the local school districts, which operate classes for them that are an alternative to the traditional classroom setting."
