Back to school season is upon us, and nobody is more excited than the staff of Mason County’s newest educational institute — Gateway to Success Academy.
G2S, at 526 N. Scottville Road, will kick off its first semester of classes on Sept. 6
Not your typical school, G2S emphasizes project-based, collaborative learning. Students are able to participate in a variety of areas of specialty outside of typical core subjects, including mechanics, photography, digital art, welding and audio recording.
“It’s just a completely different instructional method. One of the things that you see with a project-based learning environment, it’s more based on skills than a traditional environment. And that doesn’t mean it doesn’t focus heavily on content as well, but it really is a higher integration of meaningful skills and core-area content,” said superintendent and principal Jamie Bandstra. “I think we’ll have a very different school climate.
