SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central’s school board members are expected to vote Monday to dissolve Journey Junior/Senior High School Monday and lay off the Journey staff of three teachers and three support staff employees.
Journey was created by MCC and Ludington Area Schools in 2004 as an alternative school for students who did not have success in traditional classroom settings and were at risk of not graduating from high school.
The Ludington school board already voted June 15 to dissolve the school and now the issue is coming to the MCC board when it meets at 7 p.m. Monday at the high school.
Current plans call for Journey’s students to return to their home school districts for the 2015-16 school year and then possibly attend the new Gateway to Success Academy charter school when it opens in the fall of 2016....
